Art Every Day!

I am hoping to post a new piece of artwork on my blog every day (if possible). It might be old, it might be new, it might even be student work. I think doing this will be a good motivator! I am starting with the John Lennon illustration!

I painted this in college for a book cover illustration assignment. Watercolor.

Now that I am creating art on a regular basis I find it interesting that I am viewing everything I see with different eyes. I see beauty where I would have missed it before and I think to myself, "Wow, wouldn't that make a gorgeous painting."
Last week I joyed the Mt. Si Artist's Guild. I am so excited to be a member of this group. I know it will be a real motivator for me and will be an honor to work with these talented artists.

"King of the Castle," acrylic mixed media painting by Laurel Check. Painting contains some dictionary page scraps.

"Catatonic," acrylic painting on canvas by Laurel Check.

"Mr. Whiskers," acrylic painting by Laurel Check.

This painting is entitled "Mama's Kitty." I painted this for my mother's 83rd birthday- an acrylic painting of her cat named Chloe.

.

Welcome to my art blog. I am hoping this blog will be a daily motivator to me in my artistic journey as well as creative inspiration for others. I am a lover of intense color & texture. I am a fan of mixed media and collage. I love the idea of recycling materials and incorporating them into my art. This is my first blog post!
